Goodbye, Dear John

Dear John Letter

“Dear John, regretfully, telling you I am sorry
Fighting you there war, my feelings go awry.”
Slipped cold M1 Carbine off from hands of John,
Unbelievingly read it thrice, in pain he looked drawn.

“I set you free John, to fight for the nation
Aching from Separations, John, I need salvation.
No home in your wait, bye, sending you your coat.”
Only five lines, was the all she wrote.

After six war-years, in nineteen forty five,
The village of the Jane, seeks an arrive.
Brown coated, unshaved, A tired soldier,
Gun pointing down, from his brave shoulder.
Six years ago she passed, ”Love, John”, did she crave.
Told villagers the story, shot his head on her grave.

Theme of the Poem: John is a an American soldier who is fighting Second World War for his country. A day he receives a letter from his girlfriend Jane telling him that she cannot take pain of separation anymore therefore she wants to end her relation with John. The letter speaks only five lines. Jane even sends brown coat of John with the letter which is the only thing of John she had with her. This is an indication that now there is no any reason for John to come back to her.

But in 1945 when World War II ends, John comes to the village of Jane. End of the sonnet is tragic. John hears news of the death of Jane by villagers, when they narrate him that the letter to the John was the written by Jane on the bed of death and she died with the name of John on her lips. She did not want to bring into the knowledge of John about her death ergo she wrote a heart-braking letter to him so that he forget her. After knowing the painful death and reality behind the letter, John fills with grief and has no reason to live and kills himself with his gun on the grave of Jane.

Painful Cries

When heart gets filled completely,
Pain starts pouring out from eyes,
I try to lighten my heart’s weight,
And my room fills with painful cries.

How deeply from core of heart,
Pureness of affection flows for you,
And a flooded river of sad tears,
I know I was never ever wrong,
Still I do my baby apologize,
And my room fills with painful cries.

Like a small ferry lost in ocean,
Or a candle surviving in eastern winds,
Equal to an abandoned old building,
I am alone, counting backwards,
Loneliness was never a choice,
And my room fills with painful cries.

Prétendre

How better I can show,
How better I can lie,
Thousands of ways there are,
When I can prove I smile,
I’ve been kind of habitual now,
But this all will be in a vain,
When you will notice the truth,
Hidden in the depth of my eyes,
I don’t wanna make you cry,
And I decide not to pretend.

Life gives me a golden chance,
To chose either one way,
Forget history and fly higher,
The other one is scaring,
But I am happy with it because,
Sometimes satisfaction proves to be,
Much more than all other happiness,
Because it helps you dying in peace,
I don’t wanna die incomplete,
And I decide not to pretend.

The Belle of the Ball

En pleine nuit, handing a red wine glass,
Sad, alone, hurt. Oh! That poor half sipped glass,
Appeared altogether, smile on my lips and the Venus,
Milk appeared complexioned, deep sea blue eyes,
Perfectly shaped her curves, coldly I sighed !
Lips, like fresh crimson rouge leaf. Appeared she
And wind fragranced, beautiful and tall,
She was the belle of the ball.

My eyes open, and remained widely open,
Ten beats skipped my heart,
Stopped my breathing not less than a minute,
I was in love and all the time I looked at her,
She whirled hand in hand like a princesses,
I just could look, she gifted fiancé with kisses
Did she love me? With a stealing eye,
She passed a look and smile,
I was intoxicated and the reason,
Not the wine but a couple of eye,
Votre attention s’il vous plaît, was a sudden call,
She was the belle of the ball.

Now time of ceremony, she was getting engaged,
Was she really happy or was being caged?
Hesitatingly, slowly, gave her hand to the king,
And it was locked forever with a diamond ring,
She smiled but she was crying, I am sure,
I saw a droplet, dried in her eyes,
Those were the most beautiful eyes,
Full of fear and full of cries,
I was not courageous enough to see anymore,
Finished red wine glass, then headed to the shore
Years passed, time changed since
I attended the engagement soir,
She is still in heart above all,
That night, she was the belle of the ball

While Walking

When I fell all alone
I gave you a call from back
To come to me and hold my hand
But you could not hear my scream
Because you had gone next to me
So far away on the track
Of race of life.

I remember my dreams
I had thought for you,
We’ll pass our journey
Together and will make it easy
By sharing our pains,
Our thoughts, our problems
Our tears and our cries.

I remember my dreams
I had thought for you,
We’ll make our life colorful
By sharing our smiles,
Our happy happenings,
Our success and our story.

Why I couldn’t understand ever
Fantasies are fantasies forever
Which live in our heart
Till it stops bouncing on our chest.
And one more thing
Why I couldn’t understand ever
That I was in a flight of
IMAGINATION.
