Downfall of the Clairvoyant

Torn in futility, and dried in dust
He was thrown on the busiest square of city
Dancing mob drenched in blood;
Spilling the red, their beast mouths
Singing and celebrating and dancing in lust
It was downfall of the Clairvoyant.

Ruin of his fate, he already had seen
Like his prediction never proven a false
Heavens were mourning on the death of their son
Auspiciousness scared, hidden in a corner
Afraid of horrific laugh sounds of the Evil
It was downfall of the Clairvoyant.

They cut the seer into pieces with the saw,
 And thrust him in chest with shrill spears
Dragged him by rope to the square of the city
And purified the prophet in the rain of finest wine.
The Clairvoyant was brought to downfall
And then he died with a smile on lips
Because he just had seen his last prediction.

Lucy Gray - William Wordsworth : Summary and Comments

Lucy Gray is one of the finest literary ballads written by William Wordsworth in blank verses. Below is the original text and a detailed summary of the poem.

Original Text of the Poem:
Oft I had heard of Lucy Gray:
And, when I crossed the wild,
I chanced to see at break of day
The solitary child.

No mate, no comrade Lucy knew;
She dwelt on a wide moor,
--The sweetest thing that ever grew
Beside a human door!

You yet may spy the fawn at play,
The hare upon the green;
But the sweet face of Lucy Gray
Will never more be seen.

"To-night will be a stormy night--
You to the town must go;
And take a lantern, Child, to light
Your mother through the snow."

"That, Father! will I gladly do:
'Tis scarcely afternoon--
The minster-clock has just struck two,
And yonder is the moon!"

At this the Father raised his hook,
And snapped a faggot-band;
He plied his work;--and Lucy took
The lantern in her hand.

Not blither is the mountain roe:
With many a wanton stroke
Her feet disperse the powdery snow,
That rises up like smoke.

The storm came on before its time:
She wandered up and down;
And many a hill did Lucy climb:
But never reached the town.

The wretched parents all that night
Went shouting far and wide;
But there was neither sound nor sight
To serve them for a guide.

At day-break on a hill they stood
That overlooked the moor;
And thence they saw the bridge of wood,
A furlong from their door.

They wept--and, turning homeward, cried,
"In heaven we all shall meet;"
--When in the snow the mother spied
The print of Lucy's feet.

Then downwards from the steep hill's edge
They tracked the footmarks small;
And through the broken hawthorn hedge,
And by the long stone-wall;

And then an open field they crossed:
The marks were still the same;
They tracked them on, nor ever lost;
And to the bridge they came.

They followed from the snowy bank
Those footmarks, one by one,
Into the middle of the plank;
And further there were none!

--Yet some maintain that to this day
She is a living child;
That you may see sweet Lucy Gray
Upon the lonesome wild.

O'er rough and smooth she trips along,
And never looks behind;
And sings a solitary song
That whistles in the wind.

Summary and Development of Thought in the Poem:
The poem Lucy Gray was written by William Wordsworth based upon a real account of the death of a little girl narrated to him by his sister Dorothy. In the poem, the poet portrays imagery of a little solitary girl who lived in a house in the valley with her father and mother. As she did not have any friends, her most of time was spent in playing alone or helping her parents. Wordsworth further progress by adding that one can get a chance to see a fawn or a rabbit while passing through those valleys (which are usually hard to trace) but you will never be able to see the innocent face of Lucy Gray.

Now Wordsworth takes us back to the sad incident. It was an afternoon and Lucy was at home with her father. Her mother had gone to the town. Her father took his hook and started to pile bundles and instructed Lucy to take the lantern and bring her mother safe before evening because they were anticipation storm. She left for the town but against the expected time, the storm arose earlier and Lucy lost the way. She searched for the way back home but could never find it. Her mother came back home. Worried her parents explored the entire valley the whole night to catch a sight of Lucy but she was nowhere found.

At the break of the day, her parents found patterns of Lucy’s small feet in the snow. They started following those footprints which led them to the bridge of the wood which was only a furlong far from their house and after that prints disappeared. It was an indication that Lucy had died. Her parents lament for her. The dearest child of nature was gone. But it is still in belief that Lucy is alive and sings her solitary song in the valley.

Noticeable in this poem is that Wordsworth has not emphasized the death of Lucy but after her death her fusion with nature. He has tried to associate the boundaries of birth and death with this beautiful and calamitous ballad. Wordsworth as a poet of nature, in this poem, has associated the action of death with nature. After the death of Lucy also it is believed that she is alive and her song whistles in the air in the valley as if she has become part of nature. Beautiful imagery, and similes are quite seen as the very flair of William Wordsworth.
Comments and Critical Appreciation of the Poem:
Lucy Gray was written by Sir William Wordsworth in 1799 and published in the second edition of ‘Lyrical Ballad’, a collection of poems by William Wordsworth and Samuel Taylor Coleridge in 1800. The poem states story of a little girl named Lucy Gray who died early on a story night in the countryside. She lived somewhere in the western countryside with her parents. The clue of living in Western Countryside is given in lines ‘The minster-clock has just struck two,/And yonder is the moon!" the moon is visible during daytime there. She had a small family and no friends. As a solitary child’ she had no mate or someone to talk to, play with, or share.

Poem Lucy Gray starts with a reference to a popular story of Lucy Gray. Wordsworth has represented Lucy as a child of nature. We can notice in the poem Lucy perhaps, is often used to help her parents in small house works because when her mother goes out of town, her father sends her to fetch her mother. But when the storm comes before the expected time, Lucy lost her way keeps searching for the right path, and mysteriously dies. The death of an innocent lonely child hits the reader deep and leaves an impact of sorrow. At the end of the poem, the poet takes the help of supernatural theory to keep Lucy alive. People still believe that Lucy is not dead and her spirit roams and sings the songs which whistle in the air. This supernatural theme indicates how strongly Lucy was attached to her town and singing her solitary song implies how lonely she was. The tragic end of the poem leaves an everlasting impact on the readers.

The ballad is written lyrically. A scenic view stands in front of the eyes while reading the poem and imagery is widely used but nowhere seems to be in the excess. The unfortunate death of the little girl at the end of the poem and then keeping her alive in the hearts with the help of supernatural elements is its very own style of Wordsworth.

I Know You Will Keep Me Alive

What if I go, leaving you back someday?
I know you will cry, feel lack and pray
Believe I, gave you reasons,
To sit by riverside, think and smile.
Like a fire burning in heart,
Like running blood in veins,
Sweet memoires; and you’ll survive,
I know you will keep me alive.

You will think of me and smile,
Think of old days those were good,
In the spring, in summer,
On swing and in the wood,
You will sip on cup of tea,
That time you will think of me,
Close eyes, and you will smile,
I know you will keep me alive.

Look you will at my snaps,
You will wander through the maps,
On we’d walked a day,
And this is when I’ll come,
Your hair, my fingers play,
You will feel of me and smile
I know you will keep me alive.

Learning the Secret of the Alchemy

The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho

There is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to achieve: the fear of failure.

I feel my throat too dried to be able to stare at the book anymore. I place the bookmark between pages and pour a lot of water on my dried throat. I am sick. I go and stand in front of the mirror. My face is pale and lips dehydrated. Brightness in my eyes has gone off like a lantern after its fuel ended. I wash my face to feel refresh and succeed till an extent. The only thing that I am surviving upon is few pills, some milk and few remained fruits I bought two days ago. I swallow those dark colored pills and capsules. People say they taste bitter, for me they have no taste. Everything is tasteless except only the book that is kept side by my pillow. I think of my present, I think of my past. I remember a saying from the book: Don’t think what you have left behind. I know who has written this line is a wise man. I want to follow his precious advice. I try not to think of what I have left behind.

I am not even allowed to think by the force of that precious advice. I have nothing to do – nothing except sleeping and reading. The entire day I have been doing both of the activities alternatively, each an hour. Sleeping today is more likely falling unconscious and reading today is more likely consuming drug. In every span I sleep, I dream. In every span I read, I dream. But there is difference between both of my dreams. There is a saying about dreams: Life’s most passionate dreams are seen with eyes open.  And I can sense truth of these lines. I slowly walk back to the cot. Suffering I, lay on my back and put the book in front on my eyes; once again. More than half of it I have finished and as I progress, I lose the thought of sleeping again. I read and re-read when there is a sentence of wisdom. I feel as if there is some treasure in my hands not a book. I feel vital in the burned out lantern.

There is one great truth on this planet: whoever you are, or whatever it is that you do, when you really want something, it's because that desire originated in the soul of the universe.... The soul of the world is nourished by people's happiness. As I progress I get lost in deserts of Sahara. I am destined to Pyramids of Egypt. Once the boy threw his book away in the sand where used to be ocean someday, I wish I was mounted on the camel behind him so that I could step down for a while and could read the world’s greatest lie. And I learn that – At a certain point in our lives, we lose control of what's happening to us, and our lives become controlled by fate. That's the world's greatest lie.

Everyone should dream a lot as the old king had suggested and everyone should follow his destiny. Sometimes love comes as an obstacle in the path of their destiny and pulls their legs back. But they should know that love will never be an obstacle in the path of one’s dreams if it is true. So was told by the king. I see my own dreams – and I am going to put my heart on suffering. To follow my own destiny with The Alchemist.

Stella

Alone Start in the Sky

In the stillness of the new moon night,
When all the twinkle of Stella
Is blushing in the pinkness of heart
A name flickers, on silent lips
A face blazes, in insomniac eyes
Handful memories sail, on the passing cloud.

Homesick smile of blue petals
Inquisitive appetite in search of place
Incomplete piece of puzzle
Eager to reconcile
Right in the place, by side of Stella.

I Am Sorry : Confessions - I

I showed my heart good but it was too bad,
You sobbed on phone, screamed on you; mad
You gifted me smile, all made I you sad,
Me, O baby! I am so awful so bad.

I made you cry, cry for your love your care,
You longed for me, I wasn’t there
You carried tears, tears those were of my share
You floundered in pain, I pulled your hair
Me, O baby! I am so awful so bad.

I played the game; I played your heart,
Innocent your heart, I played, threw in dirt
I was laughing, standing on my feet
Yes baby, to see you down on knees,
Me, O baby! I am so awful so bad.

Bestow me pain, honey! Pain that I deserve
Punish my soul; throw me out of the verve
Thank you; you gone, I burn in fire
Act of sanctum, guilty, I do admire
Each moment I die, is justice for my sins.

I am sorry for everything, all pain I caused,
I do apologize for your life I paused
Take all the blame for everything wrong
To seek thy forgiveness I write this song.
Never show mercy on me, merciless I am that lad,
Me, O baby! I am so awful so bad.

The Sick Masochistic Lion and the Stupid Lamb

As white and calm her face
As the solitary valley post snowstorm
Wafted the wind touching her palms,
Ah! It was glacial cold.

Spellbinder she seemed,
Mesmerized I followed,
Exceptionally fast, too speedy to catch.
She was pacing? She was flying.
An inch above, from the green grass.

Breezy swift, lightly fast
Galloped I after, in green wood vast
Once I succeeded to touch her finger nail
Thunder of frost, through my veins sail.
Snatched elle off, vanished in the green.
Rapid, imitation! Lifespan Nay me seen.
For an instant she stood, tempted and ran
Disappeared in broad forest, mysterious she again.

Chasing her, running after, I lost her any sight
Wide greens, open sky, and the heavenly twilight
There she was, still, stood in cold and charm
Here I, hypnotized, what a stupid lamb! And warm.
Violet flowers, white lilies, stretch emerald meadow
Sparkling face, neck, bare hands! There was no shadow

Nay we said, nay we talked, only eye to eye
She - lion on left, lamb on right ‘n’ wish to together die.

PostScript : I am a big fan of Twilight Series and Bella and Edward. I was irked of writing love-sick sad poems and wanted to write something different this time. All of a sudden a thought bubbled to write about my favorite characters and I happened to write this poem. Not intentionally, but very while writing this poem, I happened to exchanged roles of Edward and Bella with each other. As Breaking Dawn is released and we all know Bella too is a vampire now, I have portrayed Bella as ‘The Sick Masochistic Lion’ and Edward as ‘The Stupid Lamb’.

I am looking forward to readers’ reaction on this effort of mine and then I may add some more poems to the series. Most probably describing pain of Jacob Black and unexpressed, suppressed, confused feelings of Bella for him.

A Poem Written to My Butterfly

You fold your wings and the world faints into
A colorless black and white wall
Discolors the rainbow in the sky,
Even the red roses have black petals
Greenery of grass looks as pale as hay,
And the blue sky thunders with stormy winds.
It is when my butterfly folds in her colors.

Ye flutter in the wind, thy wings wide open
Flipping all around, spreading all smiles
Dried out plants and lifeless my lips
Come back into verve,
Gentle and gratifying as a rain on desert.

Each color on your forewing
Is the color of my life
And your decorated hind-wings
Are the symbol of my grin.

The red on you makes me feel the love,
And this green into you is why I rejoice
The orange and the yellow
Keep the warmth in my sensations for you
And my tinted butterfly, flicker and listen
The black and the all deep colors on your wings
Sometimes make me feel blue when ye not flying around.

Wish I could express, reason of my colorful life,
It is all painted because of and into;
All the beautiful colors you have on you-
And the meaning of my life lies in those colors.

Just an attempt so that you can know how beautiful, colorful and meaningful everything is to me when you are there. And how senseless and colorless even the best things of the world, the best gifts of the nature are to me if they are meant to be without you. To you, Butterfly.

Subah Ho Gayi Mamu : A New Beginning

new year resolution morning

Subah ho gayi hai, uth kar mirror me face dekho, smile greeting do apne aap ko, brush kar lo din acha jayega :)’

Yes my dear all friends, first of all the awaited year for which we have been making plans, resolutions, has arrived and… okay ab resolutions ki hi baat ki hai to lets pehle yahi kar lete hain, apne message baad me type karunga padh to rahe hi ho na koi jaldi thodi hai. Haan to resolutions made in 2011, made for 2012… sabse jyada log to chahte hain apni waist wa size reduce karna increase karna. Boys want from 34 to 32 then girls taking an oath for fitting themselves in curved jeans of 24 nahi to 26 ya fir 28 bhi chalegi :-P
Per ladkiyon pehle khana to kam karo. Raat din khati hi rahogi to Jeans ke alawa aur kuch nahi pehn paogi ek din ;-) Maine khud resolution liya hai. I mean lena nahi chahta tha but jis tarah log kasme wade kar rahe the Facebook pe, maine bhi kar liya. Maine kabhi na nibhane wali ksam khayi that I will save 40% of the earnings I do. Huh! To kya ab savings me chakkar me mai Nikon SLR na lu? Blackberry sabke paas hai office me mai apna 4 saal purana Nokia le ke shaan se gumta rahu? Ya fir core dual 2 processer laptop le ke wait karu ki kab ye hang-mode se bahar nikle aur kab mai type karu? Mujhe bhi i7 chahiye. Lo sir ji and madam ji, mere resolution ka kaisa rape hua all of you have already seen. Well, after reading this article tum log bhi apne pura ya na pure hone wale resolution jinki tumne kasmein khayi thin, write down in comments. OK :)

Ek bandi ne resolution liya,“No abusing.” I clicked on ‘Like’ and made a wink. You know why? Because I know when she will see my wink, wo apna resolution tod degi ;-) Hehe One frustrated Facebook-sick guy says my new year resolution is that I will quit Facebook. Kamal hai sir :-) Facebook ke samne hi bol rahe ho Facebook ko chhod ke chale jaoge. Bade bewafa nikle aap to. Look, is bandi me dum hai who says,“I will make new boyfriends.” Sahi ja rahi hai dost… ek aad chance mere ek do desperate friends hain unhe bhi de dena ;) shayad tum logo ki kahani set ho jaye :D Ak bache ne majak kar diya new year wale din. Bolta hai,“To study hard.” Joke of the year award goes to you kid :) Hats off to you Ankit Gupta. Ankit says,“Parents ko time duga.” That is such a good thing you can do in this year and I wish you fulfill your pledge bro. Another she wrote,“ To get my book published....” and I wrote her back, this time in inbox, wishing her all the best for her book. I pray that her book gets published this year. And let me talk about the last kasam and then we will move on to further discussion. Priya says that she will get up early in the morning and try not to fall in love. Girl, falling and not falling in love is not in your hand. And mai bhagwan se hath jodkar prayer karta hu ki kisi ko saal 2012 me pyar ho chahe na ho, aapko zarur ho jaye, by God kasam se maja aa jayega (:

Chalo bahut ho gaye kasme-wade… wo to humne bhul hi jane hain, lets come back to kaam ki baat pe. OK I left my sentence incomplete in the beginning. Well, I was saying morning has risen up. Day has started. Just like you brush your teeth every morning so that you day goes well (I know usse pehle tum 10 baar bed tea pi chuke hote ho, so it doesn’t make a sence in fact … LOL) just like that day one has started and instead of wasting its precious moments why not utilize those moments in writing a history. I mean not literally writing history. Woh to hum exam sheet pe bahut karte hain. Mera matlab hai khud ki history likho. Uff.. how to tell, words nahi fit ho rahe. OK… let me try one more time. Khud ki kahani liko… apne aane wale kal ki. Smile in every moments, live life at full etcetera etcetera etcetera :D While writing this article one of my friends jumps from no-where and says,“Precaution is better than cure.” Hehe.. how true. Sahi baat hai yaar accident se acha hai pehle hi savdhan ho jao. Agar pyar nahi karna to college jana band kar do. Na college jaoge na bandi dikhegi na pyar hoga. Agar boss ke anger se bachna hai to precaution le lo, office 10:00 clock pe jate ho 08:00 jana shuru kar do. Chalo.. forget… jisko jaise suit karta hai, adjust karega. O! dirty minds, motivational lecture chal raha hai yahan and you people thinking about I know what. Sudhar jao bata raha hu, huh.

Alrighty, keeping our lecture on hoping you aren’t getting bore, I am pulling it bit lengthy. Ugghh!! Will anyone let me write in peace, please? Another friend disturbs,“Bhai new year kaisa gaya tera?” had hai yaar. New year gaya? Kab gaya? Kahan gaya? New year start huye abhi char ghante bhi nahi huye aur ye puch raha hai kaisa gaya? Gaya nahi hai mere dost just start hua hai. Still 365 days and few hours left, uske baad batauga kaisa gaya new year. OK… thoda sa inspirational add-on deta hu yahan pe. Hmm… so still 365 days and couple of hours left, we have plenty of time and energy to make this year one of the best year of our life. I mean seriously… think about it. Think… what you since ever wanted to do. What is within deadline… what you can plan and what you can do. Start working on it. And the most important thing is start working on it right now. The best example is the girl above who wants to get her book published and I am hell sure it will happen. So let your passions live; live for your passions. Nautanki karne me time bahut waste kar liye, ab thoda sa invest kar lo. Aur itne impress mat ho jana meri baton se ki nautanki karna hi band kar do… that is also an important part of life and it makes you clicking lots of photograps ;-) Photographs? Haan, photographs. Memories bahut zaroori hain. Keep cherishing moments, bahut yaad aate hain baad me, especially after college jab sab apni apni professional life me ghus jate hain, paise kama rahe hote hain na, tab udhar ke paise se pi hui chai bahut yaad aati hai. When you eat meals in expensive hotels on office-expense, canteen ke samose ki bahut yaad aati hai. Build memories mere dosto, kyoki bina mamories ke to rona bhi nahi aa payega tumhe. Kam se ro loge to man halka ho jayega.

Chalo ab mujhe khud rona aa raha hai, mai ja raha hu rone :-P Heehee… baad me milege. I hope khuch ghusa ho tumhari khopdi me. Maine pura one hour spend kiya hai ise likhne me. Mera naye saal ka ye ek hour waste mat hone dena, investment hai ye mera. Wish you all a bombastic, positive, happy year twenty twelve. Celebration aaj sham ko khatm na ho jaye dosto, pura saal baki hai. Lets keep the fire burning throughout year within ourselves. And yes, not be afraid of dying. Mar bhi jaoge to kya, maro aise ki log yaad kare.

Love, Ashish

Sayonara 2011

bye bye girl good bye

As 2011 is going to be a memory followed by unfolded tomorrow and looking forward with a very positive outlook, I raise my glass in reminiscence of the glorious year, “To friends and to friendship.”
Situations are always there, sometimes in favor and sometimes against; but say time flows with its own swiftness, careless from everything. How true! 2011 has been all about going along with time. All my life I carved for love, this year taught me friendship. Since always I read in lines that love is above friendship, this year I realized. To write names of people is not a necessity because they already know their place in my life but yes! This year has given me few people as the gifts which belong to me forever. Friends, you make my world and I am really in love with you.

Second best thing happen to me is increase in my love for literature and by the end of the year I am at a point from where I can be sure that I will write a book someday. I have developed a group of people who regularly read my writings and come up with their appreciation and criticism. Though they are few in numbers and receive my numerous thanks for spending their precious time to read me and write me back with their valuable responses.

Lesson of the year is, “Keep a faith in people and they will never break a promise.” Here are few random incidents of the year:
  1. My sister gave birth to the little champ and now I am a happy mamu of 3 kids :)
  2. An outline of my novel has been written and at least I have an idea of climax.
  3. Watched the whole Twilight movie series and loved it beyond degree. Now anticipating its final part in November, 2012.
  4. Can Love Happen Twice? Book launch. First time met a bestseller face to face.
  5. I will be a graduate next year :)
  6. And now just in last week of 2011 I have changed my job and seeking for a better career with new opportunities in my new organization.

I would like not to write a long article saying lots of things. I would love to cherish them in my heart for always rather. Thanks to everyone who made my 2011. Thanks to 2011 which made my people. Sayonara.

Love to See You "Laugh at Me"

Ah! Pain nips me and I tend to show,
And I come running to you from miles away
But before I unwrap a single layer of feeling
How terrible I feel right… I feel right now
I melt and flow, without saying any word of my pain
And you laugh at me, showing me your middle finger.

Perhaps you can ever realize, how beautifully painful it feels,
Oh yes! Beautifully painful it feels to my fucking dumped soul.
Don’t cry sweetheart! It is none of yours faulty foul.
You love playing, I love being played
You love laughing, I love being sad,
I love you laughing, you love me being sad
What is the problem? Let’s continue together,
Yeah! Hearless sweetheart, together forever.
And you know what? I know you don't
So let me tell you because, all this not because
you love to celebrate at my limitless pain but
Because Oh no! "I Love to See You laugh at Me."
